The study of Civics includes rights and duties of citizens as well as how government works on all levels. We will examine all levels of government: Federal, State, and Local and discuss the role of the citizen in each level. By the end of this course you will have a firm enough grasp on our American system of Government, that you will be prepared for US History.

Honors Civics - World History

This course during the first semester will provide the student with an understanding of how the American political system was developed, how the Constitution guards against tyranny and how the government functions today. Second semester will focus on the history of various regions of the world and how history impacts the present. The course uses analysis of primary and secondary sources to learn the content both for civics and world history. Students will also learn how to analyze documents to use them as evidence to support a claim in writing. Students who take this course will gain the skill set necessary to be successful in social studies AP courses.

This is a continuation of the 8th grade United States History course. The class provides a short survey of United States history from 1770-1860 and a detailed analysis of United States history from 1865-2001. The course will focus on economic, social, political, and geographical history.

This course emphasizes the study of regional history and geography of the world and how they are interrelated. Students will analyze political, economic, social, geographical, historical, and cultural aspects to draw conclusions about how regional issues influence the present. Topics examined: world religions and philosophies, revolutions with emphasis on the French Revolution, Industrial Revolution, nationalism, and imperialism.
