Non-Science Credit Courses

Military Science -ASVAB General Science Test Preparation

Grade Level: 11-12

Length: Semester

Class Fee: $35 (includes $20 workbook)

Prerequisite: None.

HEAR

This course is designed to reinforce basic science concepts and address specific science concepts for the science portion of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) examination students take prior to enlisting in any of the branches of the United States military.  This course is not required but is an opportunity for students to improve their ASVAB scores.  Topics addressed in the course include: nutrition and health, human body systems, genetics, cell structure, ecology, classification of living things, geology, water and carbon cycles, meteorology, solar system, measurement, physics, chemistry, electronics, mechanical comprehension (science of machinery), applied mechanics (tools), and assemblage of objects.  This is an elective credit, NOT a Science credit.

Medical Terminology

Grade Level: 11-12

Length: Semester

Class Fee: None

Prerequisite: Athletic Training II/II, Biomed II, or Anatomy and Physiology

HEAR

This course introduces students to the structure of medical terms with an emphasis on using and combining the most common prefixes, roots, and suffixes.  It includes terms related to major body systems. This class will be beneficial for those students considering a career in the medical field.  This is an elective credit, NOT a Science credit.
